Key Stage 1
Years 1 and 2
Key Stage 1 is for children aged 5-7.
In this key stage, we continue to develop our children as independent learners and work hard to ensure that all children can identify and use their phonic sounds and use these in their own reading and writing.
We provide as many opportunities as possible to practice key skills and our children have told us that they really enjoy visits out of school or welcoming visitors into their classes, in order to make the curriculum more exciting and their learning more dynamic.
You can find the Year 1 and 2 yearly overview and mid-term plans under the 'Classes', 'Key Stage 1' and clicking on the appropriate year group. You can also find the expectations of the new National Curriculum for Years 1 and 2, along with a spelling appendix and Grammar and Punctuation appendix, so that you can help to support your child's learning at home.
